Welcome Bahamas! On 20th June, 2016 CARDI’s Executive Director, Mr Barton Clarke and the Minster of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Local Government the Honourable Alfred Gray signed the Instrument of Accession, formally establishing The Bahamas as a member state of the Institute. This brings the total membership of CARDI to 14 member states.
The Bahamas, a net food importer, will now more directly benefit from a range of expertise needed to fuel the transformation of its agricultural sector.
CARDI’s work in the Bahamas will focus on the development of the roots and tubers and small ruminants industries and integrated pest management. Of specific interest will be the control of the dreaded Black Sigatoka Disease and Citrus Greening.
