Prizes of US$800.00 will be awarded to journalists presenting what is adjudged the best materials which advance the achievement of food security in Trinidad and Tobago.  

This was revealed at the launch of IICA/CARDI Awards for Excellence in Agricultural Journalism on October 6, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Port of Spain, as part of a Media Round Table on the Role of the Media in Agriculture. The awards form part of efforts to improve food security through fostering more interaction between the agricultural sector and the media, and raising awareness of food security issues among citizens.
