Caribbean Forum for Development

Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, the Hon. Denzil Douglas, will this year chair the Caribbean Forum for Development to be held on May 5-6, 2005 at the Sherbourne Conference Centre, in Barbados.

The Forum will have the participation of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and senior officials of the international community.

Participation at the high-level event will also include international funding agencies, policy makers from Caribbean member governments and regional agencies.

Executive Director of the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) Dr Wendel Parham will represent the Institute at the Forum.

Topics to be discussed at the Forum will include Regional Development & the CSME, Managing Economic Integration for Balanced Growth, and Caribbean Growth and Competitiveness.

The Caribbean Forum for Development, formerly the CGCED, is the main forum which links regional leaders and the international donor community in a partnership for dialogue and action on regional development priorities.

Every two years this meeting of Caribbean leaders and the international donor community takes place under a particular theme. The theme for this year’s Forum is entitled: “Managing Transformation for Competitiveness.”

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in Barbados manages the Forum Secretariat.
