Agriculture and Rural Development Day (ARDD) 2010, was held on 4 December 2010.  It is the second year that this activity has been featured parallel to the United Nation Climate Change Conference, COP16, and (29 November – 10 December 2010), where over 400 researchers, government representatives, farmers, the private sector, NGOs,  and representatives of international agencies met to discuss and propose strategies to bring agriculture sector adaptation and mitigation strategies to the forefront of the global climate treaty negotiations. Agriculture – Rooting for Sustainable Development is the theme for the 2010/2011 IICA/CARDI Media Award for Excellence in Agricultural Journalism. This year’s award is targeted towards full time and free lance journalists working with daily newspapers, radio and television, particularly those covering agriculture on a regular basis. (more…)

CARDI and Caribbean Chemicals & Agencies Limited (CCAL) signed an agreement on October 15, 2010 which will allow CCAL to distribute hot pepper seeds developed by CARDI globally.  Initially CCAL will focus on distributing CARDI hot pepper seeds – Moruga Red, West Indies Red and CARDI Green – for which there is an increasing demand.
